RESPONSIBILITIES

We want to raise the ambition in our practical work of caring for the trees in the municipality. As a tree caretaker in the operations and maintenance department, your main task is to care for the municipality's park and street trees so that they thrive, grow, and remain safe. The position of tree caretaker is newly established, and you will form a work team with a colleague who works closely together to solve the task.

As a tree caretaker, you will work full-time with tree care such as pruning, removal, risk assessment of trees, and various tree-related matters. You will participate in the work with excavation permits and develop the work of protecting trees during construction, for example, through case management, permit issuance, monitoring, and follow-up. You ensure that excavation work and constructions in the city are done safely for the trees. The work is independent, and you will organize your work yourself and apply for traffic plans and make closures, etc. The position is a combined practical role with some administration but with a main focus on practical work. If necessary, other tasks within the unit may include tree planting, nature conservation, forestry work, or similar.

You are responsible, together with your colleagues, for ensuring that assigned tasks are carried out correctly and safely. The work requires good collaboration skills, a service mindset, responsibility, and good physical fitness. Chainsaws and other relevant tools or machines will be used in the work. Daily maintenance of these is included.

You will be placed in the Nature and Recreation unit and will primarily work from the sports field in Teleborg. Lifts and equipment will be available to make the work as good and easy as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a relevant education, such as a landscape engineer with a focus on tree care. Alternatively, other education/experience that the employer deems suitable for the position. You should have experience and have worked with corresponding tasks before. It is advantageous to be a trained climbing arborist with ETW (European Tree Worker) certification. It is also advantageous to have chainsaw A+B, C, and E, as well as lift training. We require a B driver's license for a manual transmission. You should master the Swedish language in both spoken and written form, and be a regular user of digital tools such as computers and smartphones as these are part of your daily work. Experience with Office Suite and relevant operational systems such as Castor and Flexite is advantageous.

You are used to and enjoy working both in a team and independently. You are expected to have a self-driven approach to work and actively contribute to its planning and execution. You show responsibility and attention to detail for the tasks and our common mission, and you have an understanding of the whole. To effectively carry out our tasks, we require high collaboration skills, both internally within the unit and externally. We expect you to meet changes in work positively and constructively and to be flexible and adaptable.

Our department of Operations and Maintenance conducts service operations, which requires a sense of and willingness to provide service. Understanding diversity and social contacts is important. You feel comfortable with what we represent and have the ability to meet both colleagues and municipal residents with respect and understanding. The work mainly takes place outdoors and in all weather conditions. Therefore, we want you to enjoy working outdoors and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. The work is physically demanding.
